A V8-free lineup built around the Hurricane I6
The biggest story of the 2025 Ram 1500 is what is no longer in the engine bay. Both the long-running 5.7L HEMI V8 and the 3.6L Pentastar V6 have been retired, replaced across the entire lineup by the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six. The Standard Output version produces 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque — more than the outgoing HEMI on both counts — while the High Output Hurricane reserved for Tungsten and RHO bumps that to 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft. Both engines pair with the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic and are available with rear-wheel drive or part-time / full-time 4x4. For 2025, there is no V8 option, no V6 option, and no plug-in 1500 REV at retail.
